Credit Cards – Transfer to 0% Interest

Credit cards are an indispensable part of most people’s financial life, but used unwisely they can be a major source of trouble. As many of us know from personal experience, it is all too easy to run up uncontrollable debt.

So what can you do when your credit card bills are ballooning out of control? Interest rates are currently at an all-time low, but that does not mean that your existing credit card companies will ever let you off paying the interest. And if you only pay the minimum payment each month, the interest charged each month can actually increase, rather than reduce, your debt.

One useful strategy in tackling credit card debt is to find another credit card company that will let you transfer the debt from your old card into a new account where you will pay no interest for maybe six month, or even a year. The debt doesn’t disappear, but you can pay the minimum each month and the debt goes down.

There are many credit card offers on the market that let you do just this and it is well worth shopping around to see what you can find. Check out how much they are willing to let you transfer and how long the interest-free credit period will be. Also check how much credit limit they will let you have and what rate of interest they will charge when the interest-free period ends.

Not all credit card companies offer this option and some are quite fussy about who they will accept. But if you can get a good deal, this is one very useful way of getting your credit card debt back under control.
